COVID-19 means change for everyone

COVID-19 means change for EVERYONE

It’s hard to not talk about Covid-19 as much as I wanted to avoid it. It’s still happening, and people are not taking it seriously. We are reaching the stage of a new normal because we like it or not, Covid-19 means change for everyone. Yes, that’s including you and me!

When Coronavirus, known as Covid-19, identified for the first time at the end of December 2019 and reported in early January, I never thought it would be this huge. Oh well, none would be feeling like this. Especially if you live in Indonesia. I thought it would like MARS, SARS, or that kind of disease, believing that it would pass like the previous one.

The Struggle was real.

I was still traveling until early March 2020. All travel plans on schedule until the outbreak was getting bigger, and we reached a decision to reschedule everything. The office needed to be close, and our team has to be quarantined or stay at home. All services postponed. While maintenance keeps going, but we have to close everything.

I struggled for a whole first month. I couldn’t keep everything straight. All families stay at home means there are a lot of people at home for an entire day. To be honest, I could concentrate on working whatsoever. Even the only student at our house was having a hard time to conduct the homeschooling method.

Our lovely girl in the house who’s wearing a pair of pajamas pants while having an online class.

I could spend hours in front of a laptop trying to do many things — even I have no idea what it was. Insomnia attack nonstop every day, I have to push myself to take a bit of sleep. I believe it was not easy for everyone.

Even a negative situation still holds the potential to produce a positive purpose.

The big decision regarding our start-up reached after I was alive and back on track again. My team patiently waited for me. After a crazy month for me, I shared what we need to do. This is a situation where you need to do something you never do before. We accepted an opportunity to help rebrand a couple of new small businesses to support us. It would be a lie if I told you I wasn’t scared, but we did it. After short of preparation, we rebranded and launched those old brands. It’s a Food & Beverages brand.

I’m back on track blogging and writing again. Scheduling posts, sort of all traveling photos, doing marketing our client’s F&B product, while trying our best to manage our Bwamtrip. Our team is also back on their ground, doing freelance jobs.

COVID-19 means change for EVERYONE.

I’ve learned a lot during large-scale social distancing and stay at home period. Once again, I have gone through a lot of changes that still ongoing. They have never been easy. This social distancing has been a significant change for all of us.

One thing I’m so grateful for is that we always try and stay united during the change. We created something, we back on our own track. We pushed to the limit to think everything that we thought we couldn’t make it — at least to save the last breathe of our life.

I know that there will be challenges, issues, and disagreements, but I always remind myself and each other that we’re a team. This always makes us feel supported by the other person.

The other thing is we genuinely believe that every day is a new day. A unique opportunity to improve ourselves. We don’t take the pain of yesterday into the potential of today and tomorrow.

We are not perfect, it's still far from it, but these principles keep us progressing in the good purpose.

I am a language trainer based in Jakarta, Indonesia. I love traveling, like a lot. I enjoy walking around, language immersion in different places, have a cup of coffee at some unfamiliar coffee shop, embrace the history or art in many different museums. I love coming across people and blending with new culture. I like having conversations with new people, blogging the stories and inspire people.
