Christmas Is Simplicity. Simplicity Is Christmas.

I have traveled to countries and witnessed many lives and thoughts from different perspectives about what Christmas is all about. From people who definitely don’t understand at all, people who only follow others, people who have been doing Christmas celebration time to time, until the people who definitely understand and live the meaning of Christmas itself.

As for me, I have learned through life that Christmas means to go back to the root. It signifies that everything that we do have to be SIMPLE. Being simple means going back to the root. A simple way of life is to come back to the realness of God. As I discovered that everything comes out of a simplicity of loving God and obedience to God’s will.

Our big problem is that we are excessively complicated in the way we live out what we believe. When we are complicated, our message of life becomes blurred and people sometimes could not realize the love of God because our lives have shown love so complicated by our disunity. That is why they have caused a big confusion to the world.

I have read somewhere that, simplicity always becomes a threat. When you decided to enliven up the simplicity, it means you have to change everything. As an Indonesian, I have to admit that Indonesia is way different from Indonesia used to. At some point, it becomes better, but if we are talking about simplicity, then there are a lot of things have changed become more complicated. As I remember that everything used to be real simple when I was a kid. People possess the right to express themselves, and it was beautiful. We are living in diversity, but some people are trying to make it all the same without respecting the difference.

People can easily understand simple things because in simplicity the message will be well-defined. Only clearness can bring understanding in the heart of the people. Besides, we need to understand that when we are simple we can easily move, just like traveling. If you are too complicated with the stuff around you, you are bringing too much until you waste your energy and you finally stuck in one single place.

It means that through simplicity our lifestyle, not only something that our world can enjoy, but can be a cause that influences a generation. This is true through history that every movement always starts with a simple in the beginning.

The Musings

Christmas started with a very simple person that lives out a simplicity of love. Because they lived out what they believed, the clearness of their message penetrated the society and because it was so simple many people could easily live out what they understand and when they are understanding each other’s differences, the world becomes better.

Christmas is simplicity. It is not pressure for you. It blesses you. Merry Christmas!
