We Need Friend Because We Just Can’t Live By Ourself
“Can I play your toys?” One day a boy asked Ali
Without any answer, Ali just took her toys away, not even show a glance of lending her toys to that boy.
“Why you don’t want to share your toys Ali?” I asked her
“Why I have to?” a surprise answer from a 2.5 year old girl
“If someone has a very nice toy, do you want to borrow and play with them” I asked again
“Oui, that’d be nice” a mix answer in French and English from Ali
“And if they don’t want to share it with you or if they don’t want to play it with you, how do you feel?”
“Sad” a simple answer from her then “but why?”
“Why they have to?” I gave her a same answer just liked what she said before
“…” Ali just went silent after that
“Ali, In this world we are not just living by yourself, there are a slew of people, imagine if there is only you in this world, life must be really boring since you don’t have a friend or someone to play or to spend with, right? If we don’t want to share things, we would ended have no friends, and for sure, that will be very boring and sad, do you want to live like that? No your sister, no mama, no papa, no one.” I tried to deal with this selfish little girl
“No, I don’t want” she replied with a sad expression.
“Then go, share your toys and make a friend, life would be beautiful if we could enjoy it with someone”
Without an answer (again) she went off to the boy who wants to play with her toys. In the meantime, I remain sitting there and pondering about what I just said to her and whispers to myself “because you knew how is the feeling when you don’t have any friend, right gosh?”
The Musings
Sometimes we thought that we could stand just by ourself, and we thought that we would just fine. Yes, in the beginning, it might feel nice, but just like things changes, so do we and life, either it would be friends, best friend, parents, siblings or even just a far relative, not-close neighbor or even strangers who we meet on the street or the cashier at the supermarket, their existences influenced our lives, small parts or big parts, we need them, not always to be good and made our life better, but sometimes it just meant to be there and somehow in a way that we never thought, it made our life interesting and worth to live.
